Tennis St.Petersburg requests to host Masters Cup-2003
The management of the St.Petersburg Open tennis tournament is expected to file, before December 15, an official request with the ATP for hosting the Masters Cup Final of 2003. |
According to DirectorGeneral of St.Petersburg Open Mikhail Rydnik, Mark Miles, the head of ATP, came up with the idea of making Russia's northern capital the host of the final tournament of the year. "ATP demands three things of the contenders for the Masters Cup: an interest in tennis in the city, organizational capabilities and existing venues. I don't see any problems on all three counts", - says Mikhail Rydnik. |
The prize fund of such a tournament comes up to 4 million dollars. The St.Petersburg Open management relies in this on its shareholders - Baltoneksimbank and Konti Corporation, as well as the help of the Russian government and other potential sponsors. ATP should look into all requests and choose the host of the Masters Cup-2003 by spring 2002. |
