Boxing Ural challenges boxing Europe
Next year the Cheliabinsk boxing club Ural intends to fight for the European Champions Cup, Yevgueni Vainshtein, the President of the club and the Ural Boxing Federation told SE Internet correspondent Boris TITOV. |
According to the President, the Cheliabinsk team strenghtened by boxers from Magnitogorsk, Miass Trekhgorny and Zlatoust, is ready to step into the European amateur ring. The club has one or two strong fighters in every weight category - Cup holders, prizewinners of Russian, European and World championships. No other region of the country can boast such an array of good boxers. |
Fighters from Southern Ural won six or half of all the gold medals of the recent Russian Armed Forces Championship. Four young sportsmen from the Cheliabinsk region also became the winners of the European junior and boys championships and won gold and silver at the World Championship in Baku. |
The Cheliabinsk boxers were certainly inspired by the triumph of their compatriots who constituted half of the St.Petersburg Yavara-Neva judo team which for the first time in Russian sports history won the European Champions Cup. |
